Labour Day in Vietnam, celebrated on May 1st, is a significant public holiday that honors the contributions of workers. Known locally as International Workers' Day, it is marked by various activities such as parades, speeches, and cultural events. The day reflects Vietnam's appreciation for the labor force and aligns with global observances of workers' rights and social achievements. It is a time for rest and recognition, with many people enjoying a day off work to spend with family and friends.
Mother’s Day was also celebrated on Sunday, May 12 in Vietnam as well as other countries around the world. Celebrated on the second Sunday of May, Mother's Day provides the opportunity to honor mothers, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society!

This month, “Vietnam Is Awesome” hosted our first free community tour, open to all of those with a VIA Private Community account. The free, immersive tour took place on May 26th when a group of 13 attendees traveled into the vibrant heart of Chinatown, Ho Chi Minh City.
Hosted by ambassadors Thao Truong and Kay Ng the community experience offered a fascinating glimpse into the blend of Chinese and Vietnamese cultures and cuisines. Exploring bustling markets and historic sites, attendees got to experience firsthand the rich intertwining of traditions that shape this multicultural neighborhood.
The community tour included a visit to a revered pagoda and spiritual sanctuary that showcased how ancient Chinese beliefs harmoniously meet Vietnamese customs. Participants also ventured into Cho Lon’s vibrant markets, where they were able to craft a traditional dessert under the guidance of a VIA Ambassador Chef.
This tour was an enriching and unforgettable dive into the rich, multicultural tapestry of Chinatown in Ho Chi Minh City. If you were not able to join this tour, stay tuned for more similar community events put together by “Vietnam Is Awesome!”

We cannot wait to see the great experiences they bring to “Vietnam is Awesome.”
We are thrilled to announce that one of our ambassadors at “Vietnam Is Awesome” has opened his very own restaurant. Chef Duc Nghiem is now the co-founder of NP Bistro in Ho Chi Minh City. The “Vietnam Is Awesome” team had the opportunity to visit NP Bistro during its soft opening on May 31st to try Duc’s amazing dishes.
NP Bistro is located inside a former house that Duc and his team fully renovated to fit the needs of their restaurant. The interior is open with a cozy feel and plenty of natural light provided by the floor-to-ceiling windows in the second-floor dining room. Duc and his team provide a unique dining experience, blending flavors from Italian and Vietnamese dishes. Duc states that his goal is to make “happy food” that makes his guests feel something special and recall memories.
In May we also had the opportunity to attend a wrap-up ceremony at Saigon Business School. At the ceremony, students had the chance to share their journey working on a culinary tourism project. Many students also received awards and certificates for their hard work and achievements.
